 The Choir of St Michael at the North Gate

The choral tradition of St Michael’s goes back many years. The conscientious spirit in which the choristers were admitted at the turn of the last century, makes quaint reading, but the sentiments are perhaps salutary. The Queen Victoria Guild (founded Sunday 3rd November 1901) included in its rules for choristers “to read the Bible every day, to attend the children’s services at St Michael’s regularly, always to be kind to animals, and to help the work of the RSPCA”.   More -->  

Choir

The Choir of St Michael at the North Gate is considered among the best liturgical choirs in Oxford, and during the University of Oxford vacation, Choral Evensong is offered, with opportunities for serious solo singing. The Director of Music welcomes applications for Choral Clerkships and subscription to the deputy list. Auditions are held throughout the year, and current Choral Clerkship holders are reviewed annually. Sight-reading is essential.
