Welcome
The Very Revd Bob Wilkes, City Rector
Welcome from the Priest-in-Charge
Thank you for visiting our web site. As a Christian
Church in Oxford city centre, a warm welcome is
at the heart of what we want to offer to all who
come by either
on Cornmarket Street or online.
St Michael’s is an ancient place. Our Saxon Tower is the oldest
structure in this city of many old buildings. As
I say my
prayers here, I often think of the faithful who have come to
this Church for over a thousand years. Today, we continue to
live as a community of faith, valuing the heritage and tradition
which we inherit and offering ourselves in the service of the
modern city.
I think of St Michael’s as a Christian community,
with a civic calling and a city centre
opportunity. St Michael’s is the City Church and I have the
privilege of being the City Rector for the Council. Our Church
is on the busiest walkway in this much visited city.
We open our doors every day to invite in those who would benefit
from a few moments of reflection and prayer. The hospitality of
Christ - that is our core value.
Do explore our web site - and when you are in Oxford, do call
in. We have regular services of worship, and frequent special events.
Every day the door is open for you.
